Bettie Eddings Obituary

Bettie Jean Eddings Born: July 25, 1941 – Asheville, North Carolina Transitioned: November 29, 2025

With grace and dignity, Bettie Jean Eddings entered eternal rest on November 29, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in the rolling hills of Asheville, North Carolina, on July 25, 1941, Betty’s life was a radiant testament to love, resilience, and faith.

Bettie grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which instilled in her a lifelong appreciation for nature’s quiet strength. She carried that same strength into every chapter of her life—whether as a devoted daughter, a nurturing mother, a loyal friend, or a guiding light in her community.

In her younger years, Bettie attended Hill Street Baptist Church, where she sang joyfully in the choir. She later dedicated 35 years of service to the Progressive Education Program for the Buncombe County School system as a teacher’s aide assistant, touching countless lives with patience and care.

Bettie loved to travel, cook, dance, tell jokes, watch wrestling matches, and spend time with her beloved dogs. Most of all, she cherished being with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events, where her pride and encouragement were always felt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose Eddings, Charles Brown, and Forrest Woods, as well as her son, Ronald Andrea Eddings, grandson Antwan L. Eddings, and great-grandson Jameireon Franks.

Bettie leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Derrick Eddings Sr., Eric Eddings Sr., Stephen L. Eddings, and Monique N. Gaines. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Landen A. Eddings (Allison), Brittney Eddings Watkins, Derrick Eddings Jr., Dominique J. Eddings (Shannon), Erica N. Eddings, Eric Eddings Jr., Adrienne S. Eddings, Brianna R. Eddings, Kevin E. Eddings, De'Riyadh McMorris, Deayon McMorris,  August Eddings, Michale Eddings, Michael Eddings, and Jeremiah McMorris. Her legacy continues through 16 great-grandchildren Brooklyn R. Eddings, Cameron A. Eddings, Quilian S. Swain, Naomi G. Watkins, Demoya R. Walker, Deontae Eddings, Laila Eddings, Emani Eddings, Sayge Eddings, Danaysia Franks, Damarion Eddings, Makia Eddings, Annalaysia Eddings, Kaceson A. Eddings, Mazias Z. Lloyd, and Tylasia Eddings, and one great-great-grandchild, Ah’zmir Eddings. 3 Siblings: Brenda Pulley, Carnell Pulley, and Darnell Pulley, along with a host of cousins and cherished relationships marked by mutual respect, love, and enduring connections.

Bettie’s home was always filled with warmth—laughter around the dinner table, the aroma of her favorite recipes, and her spunky presence. She was our Firecracker.

A celebration of Bettie’s life will be held in Asheville, where her journey began, allowing loved ones to gather in remembrance and gratitude. Though she has transitioned from this earthly life, her spirit remains a guiding light—reminding us to live with kindness, cherish each day, and love without condition. The Funeral Service to honor her will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church (146 pine St.), at 1pm. She will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Bettie will be laid to rest during a private family memorial. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 1pm - 7pm.

Bettie Jean Eddings will be remembered not only for the years she lived, but for the love she gave. So don’t be sad—for she is never truly gone. We will carry her memory in our hearts, and she will be watching over each of us, laughingly saying, “You jealous?”
