Benny was self-employed, and he loved sports and traveling all around the United States. He was a lovely individual. He went to Asheville City Schools and was in the class of “82.
Benny is proceeded in death by his parents and Grandmother Charlotte Bryson McKinney, and Viola Yarborough Gee and Grandfather Glenn Gee, Brothers James "Pete" Bryson, William Bryson Jr. Billy Merriweather and Sister Abby Jean Oliver.
He leaves a Legacy of Love and Memories. Benny is survived by his daughters Bianca Bryson Nakeya (LJ Bryson) 3 Grandsons, 2 Granddaughters, brothers Rev. Arthur Bryson (Sandra) Crete, IL, Ronald Bryson (Chinita) Asheville, and Shon Merriwether, sisters Sherice Merriwether Williams (Kevin) Detroit MI, Laura, Jackie, and Viola Bryson Alexander (Larry) all of Asheville, special aunt Catherine "Cat" Gee Jeter of New Jersey, and other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Benny will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at St. John A Baptist Church (20 Dalton St.) at 2pm. He will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Viewing will be held Friday November 3, 2023, from 1pm to 7pm at Avery's Memorial Chapel. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
