Bennie Hugh Reid, Jr.

Bennie Hugh Reid, Jr., 62, died unexpectedly on January 10, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Asheville on January 2, 1958, the son of Bennie Hugh Reid, Sr. and Josephine Smith Reid.

Bennie was a graduate of Asheville High School Class of 1977. Following graduation, he attended Blanton Jr. College.  He was a dedicated worker at Ingles Distribution /Warehouse in Black Mountain and was previously employed at NC Hubble Distribution, Carolina Day School, and a retired Asheville City Bus Driver.

Bennie loved to fellowship with friends, sports, laughing and jazz music. He was a loving father and proud grandfather, devoted friend, selfless, hard-working and a man of God.

In addition to his parents he is preceded by his sister Mary Morgan.

Left to cherish his memories are daughters; Shemika Littlejohn of Charlotte NC, Ashli Reid of Asheville, son Marchela Littlejohn of Asheville, four granddaughters; Jaiya Morgan of Charlotte, NC, Chelsianna Collins of Asheville,  Ajanae Littlejohn of Asheville  and Tekhia Littlejohn of Charlotte, NC, nephew, Charon Morgan of Leicester, many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Life-long brothers Fred Burton of Asheville, Harold “Nat” Burton of Seattle, Washington, Doug Allen of Charlotte NC, Donald Bowie of Virginia Beach, Va., Bob (Donna) Smith of Asheville..

Services for Mr. Bennie Hugh Reid will be held on Monday, January 20th at 1:00 pm at Brown Temple CME Church located at 32 Phifer Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
