Arthur Nathaniel Chappel transitioned from this life into GOD's care on Saturday, September 4, 2021. He was born to the late Roosevelt Chappel, and Henrietta Parker Chappel on January 4, 1953 and was preceded in death by his son, Philip Bowden.
Arthur attended Asheville City Schools and was a veteran in the US Army. He also was employed by the Asheville Regional Transit System for several years before retiring and moving to Atlanta, GA. He was a mechanic by trade and could often be seen working on many individual's vehicles at Tank’s Automotive in Asheville, NC.
Left to cherish his memory along with his mother is his wife Sheila James Chappel, daughter Tameika Pettus (Duane) of Huntersville, NC, special daughter-in-love Brandy Bowden, stepchildren Krystal, Antonio, Kenya, Justice, and Devin James, grandchildren Devonte Jeter, Tyler Sturdivant, Amyiah Bowden, Sarah Simmons, Ki’Shawn & Barbara Pettus, Isaiah, Asia, Zamarian, Zy’in, Lene, and T’nae Amari James, two great grandchildren, sister Earthelene Sanders (Roderick) of Hendersonville, brother Willie Chappel (Sandra) Asheville, nieces Natalene Felder of Maryland, Kai and Nicolette Felder of Greensboro, NC, and Lena Glass, nephews Chrisshaun Young, Jermille Chappel, Carl and Leon Glass, and a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and close friends.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Mr. Arthur Nathaniel Chappel will be held Monday Sept. 13 at 10am, at Worldwide Baptist Tabernacle located on 85 Choctaw St. in Asheville, NC. Burial will be held immediately after the funeral at the Western Carolina State Veteran Cemetery located in Black Mountain. Viewing will be held at Avery's Memorial Chapel on Sunday Sept. 12 from 1pm - 7pm. The funeral will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
