Mr. Anthony T. Whiteside age 52, a life-long resident of Asheville, peacefully answered GOD’s call from labor into eternal reward on Saturday, June 25, 2022, surrounded by his devoted wife and other family members.
Anthony was a proud attendee and member of Asheville High School class of 1987.
If you truly knew him, you knew he was affectionately called “Whiteside,” by everyone. He was passionate about his love for people, was full of life, and he had a laugh that was contagious. Whiteside was an avid fisherman, and even he wouldn’t have known that GOD was preparing him to become not only a fisherman of the water but also of men.
Among Anthony’s many loves, he was a committed church member of WNC Baptist Church. He served as an usher as well as a proud choir member. Anthony also found joy in teaching during Vacation Bible School. He had a love for cooking, whether it was in house or on a grill. It brought him great joy to see people eating, smiling and having a great time. We must not forget to mention, Anthony was a die-hard Cowboy’s fan and trust me…he’s smiling because today a lot of you are too.
Whiteside was preceded in death by his father, James (Possum) Whiteside Sr., his sister Belinda Allen, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Cherished memories will remain in the hearts of his wife Veronica Sams Whiteside of Asheville, his mother Hassie Mae Whiteside of Asheville, his beloved children, daughters Sharnicec Sams of Arden, Charmonica Sams and Teresa Allen, both of Asheville, sons Keonte Whiteside of Asheville, TyAnthony Whiteside of Spartanburg, SC, and Javin Whiteside of Asheville, sister Lafondra Whiteside of Rock Hill, NC, and brother James Whiteside, Jr., also left to cherish his memory are a host of other family and friends, including some special cousins, nephews and friends, Carlos Fair, Eddie Beck, Elder Andre Arrington, Gene Ettison, Wilburn “Peanut” Smith, Michael Byrd, Darrin Clayton, and Joe Whiteside.
Anthony will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
"Whiteside!"
