Annie Maude (Holley) Mitchell

Mrs. Annie H Mitchell a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend was born on January 9, 1946. She was the daughter of the late Maggie and Jake Holley. She departed this life February 16, 2023. Annie was born in Alexander City, Alabama. She moved to Swannanoa North Carolina as a child where she grew up. Annie attended Stephens-Lee High School.

After graduating, she worked for Taylor Instrument for 35 years. After Taylor Instrument closed its doors, Annie worked for Day International which was in the same building, for 12 years before retiring. Annie became a caregiver, it was always in her blood, as she took care of both of her parents and her sister Jeanette which was the apple of her life.
 

In addition to her parents Annie was preceded in death by her husband Freddy Mitchell, her sisters Cora Morris, Jeanette Holley, and her brother, Alvin Holley.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Doris Mitchell of Charlotte, Freda Griffith, and Freddy Mitchell (Tammy) of Asheville. Annie had four grandchildren: Brandy McDaniel, Portia Martinez, McKenzie Mitchell, Korey Griffith, seven great grandchildren Makhiah Blair Higgins, Sariyah Peterson, Alexis Martinez, Dy’Min Martinez, Matisse, Millie, Salem Mitchell and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Ms. Annie Mitchell will be held at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church (100 Carroll Ave Asheville, NC 28801) on Friday February 24, 2023, at 12pm. She will lie in state from 11am until the beginning of service. Viewing will be on Thursday February 23, 2023 from 1pm until 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
