Angela Lavern Baird transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on October 27th, 2023, at Piedmont Henry Hospital after battling a chronic illness.
She was born on August 30th, 1959, in Asheville, NC to Mary Alice King and Alvin Baird Sr. She attended Asheville High School and graduated and proudly graduated in 1977. There she developed a passion for sewing and home economics. Angela had a dream of becoming a Peer Support Specialist. She enjoyed spending time with people and encouraging them to become the best version of themselves. Angela was the life of all parties; she was always well dressed and willing to dance the night away. Tonk and spades were her favorite card games especially when good friends and old school music were involved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Coretha Baird; her father, Alvin Baird and a host of Aunts and Uncles.
Angela is survived by her daughter, Sharonda Bradley of Mcdonough, Georgia; siblings, Tanya “Tannie” Briggs, Alvin Jackson (Tammy), and Quentin Jackson all of Asheville, NC. Two beloved grandchildren, Sabina Gyimah and Josiah Bradley; special friends Kimberly and Ken Whitaker of Palmetto Florida, Daphne Tate of Asheville, NC, and Barbara Vanterpool of New York City; she had numerous nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom she loved dearly.
A Funeral Service to honor the life of Angela will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church (146 Pine St.) at 10am. She will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Violet Hill Cemetary. Viewing will be held Friday November 3, 2023, from 1pm to 7pm at Avery's Memorial Chapel. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
