Allen Brown

On February 17, 2023, Allen Brown gained his wings. He was born January 18, 1939, and came to America in the 1960s.

An astute businessman, Allen opened one of the first black owned disco clubs in Hendersonville. He was a well-known man, many people called him "Downtown Allen Brown".

 Later he went on to exercise his skill of cooking for the youth kids at a camp which became his passion. Allen loved doing things for the kids and making sure the kids were taken care of.

Later he began working at an assisted living facility as a cook. He enjoyed taking care of and cooking for the residents.

Allen is survived by his sons Andre Whiteside of Hendersonville, NC and Scott King of Los Angeles, CA.

He leaves to cherish his memory his 5 grandchildren: Dominique Whiteside, Desmond Whiteside, Keiuna Rudisil, Myesha Young, and Keon King. His legacy lives on in his 9 great-grandchildren: Zola Whiteside, Penelope Whiteside, Josiah Whiteside, Luca Whiteside, Amiyah Whiteside, Mylan Whiteside, Desaniya Whiteside, Amari Young, Amiya Young.

Allen is definitely going to be missed and remembered for his smiling face and enjoying life.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Allen Brown will be held at The Contemporary First Missionary Baptist Church, (429 Harris St. Hendersonville, NC 28792), on Monday February 27, 2023, at 1pm. He will lie in state from 12pm until the beginning of service. Viewing for Mr. Brown will be held Sunday February 26, 2023, from 1pm until 7pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
