Alice Ailes Obituary

Alice Virginia Jamison Ailes went home to be with the Lord January 15, 2019.  Alice was born July 24, 1948 in Asheville, North Carolina to Artis Jones of Anderson, South Carolina and Nettie Jamerson of Murphy, North Carolina.

Alice was preceded in death by parents Artis and Nettie, brothers Sherman, Charles and Paul Jamerson, Father-in-Law M.C. Ailes, Special Mother Lillie P. Carson and great grand-daughter Maleah Bridges.

Alice was a native of Asheville though she lived in Tucson, Arizona for several years to pursue a career in nursing before returning to Asheville to be with her family and friends whom she loved dearly.

Alice was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where for many years she was an active member of the senior choir, willing workers, usher board and hospitality committee.

Alice was an avid reader whose favorite book was the Bible.  Alice also loved cooking, crafts, fishing, crossword puzzles, Sudoku and most of all entertaining her family and friends.  She was affectionately known to her grands as “Nana” and “AL Maggie” to her friends.  Alice LOVED and was LOVED by her husband, children, grands and great grands.

Surviving to cherish Alice’s memories include her husband of 32 years Charles “Lanky” Ailes, children Thomas Carson, Jr., Anita Carson, Kelly Medley (Theresa), Trina Logan (Alfred), Alounda Carson, Christopher Jamerson, step-daughter Demetria Ailes, mother-in-law Ruth Ann Ailes, brother-in-law Ray Ailes, sister-in-laws Joann Lee, Barbara Ailes, Sharita Ailes, her eldest cousin Beatrice McGahee better known as “Aunt Bea”, nieces Laura Myles, Alicia Thompson, Veronica Thompson, Elease Atkins, Judy Norris, Priscilla McLaughlin, Winifred Jamerson, and nephews Harold Jamerson, Darrell Jamerson, Paul Lawrence Jamerson, Jr. and Quentin Burton.

Nana will be missed by her 13 grandchildren; April Pickens (missing since 2011), Kimya Pickens, Coleman Clark, Jr., Antonio Carson, Tye-Quan Finley, Ra-Sheym Carson, Shanice Pickens, Alexis Medley, Kelly Medley, II, Avante’ Carson, LaShaiya Smith, Danielle Medley and Khorin Carson. 

Nana’s 21 great-grandchildren; Myasia, Khristan, Nevaeh, Silas, Serenti, Davon, LaTrina, Damon, Kamiyah, Ayah, Aniyah, Ryder, Kaidan, Co’Marion, Xariyana, Haylo, Tristan, Antonio, Jr., Amani, Andreus and Gabrielle.

Nana’s future great great-grandson due March 2019.

Special cousins Jackie “Jac” McGahee, Gary Whiteside and mama’s “Road Dawg” Revonda McGahee.  God-daughter Sheila Simpson, special daughter Fay Clark, special son Isaac Cox, best friend Alice Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 25, at 2pm at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 170 Fayetteville St.  Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
