Alfred Johnson Obituary

Mr. Alfred John Johnson was born March 2, 1952, to the late David J. Johnson and the late Hazel Robinson Johnson. On May 7, 2026, he transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest.

Alfred was a graduate of Asheville High School. He worked as a supervisor at Beacon Manufacturing for over 30 years and later served as a juvenile officer at JEC where he retired. Alfred enjoyed playing softball in his free time.

Alfred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and strength touched everyone who knew him. He lived a life rooted in love, quiet sacrifice, and hard work; always taking care of those he loved with unwavering dedication. He found his greatest joy in his family. Whether spending time with loved ones, offering advice, or enjoying life’s simple moments, he left lasting memories that will be treasured forever. The bond he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was truly special, and the love he poured into his family will continue to live on for generations.

Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, his twin Albert Johnson, and Arnold “To-To” Johnson.

Alfred leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years Mattie Johnson, his children Patrick Johnson (Precious) of Asheville, Lashanda Harris (Cory) of Charlotte, and Jessica Moser (Chris) of Asheville, grandchildren Patrick Johnson Jr., Charity Campbell, Alphonse Griggs Jr., Deandra Whitaker, Jaquoria Rucker, Jakari Moser, Nasir Noel, Synsir Noel, and Zysir Noel, six great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Carolyn Johnson and Francis Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Though our hearts are broken, we are grateful for every moment, every lesson, every hug, and every memory shared with him. While he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts—guiding us, comforting us, and reminding us of the importance of family, love, and hard work.

Alfred will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten. Your life was a blessing and your memory a treasure. You lived beyond words and are missed beyond measure.

A Memorial Service to honor the life of Alfred will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at New Mount Olive Baptist Church (2 Herman St.), at 1pm. The service will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
