Alfonso Timbers Obituary

(Due to Covid-19 concerns, all who attend the Funeral Service are REQUIRED to wear a face mask and practice social distancing)

On November 5,2022, Alfonso Timbers, 69, of Fletcher, North Carolina, received his wings. He was the youngest of four gifted and lovely siblings, and was born on June 24, 1953, in Camden, South Carolina, to the late Roosevelt Timbers and Arizona "Copeland" Timbers. He was obviously incredibly spoiled! He was a devoted son, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, and was affectionately referred to by many family members as "Doc Coosie."

He attended Henderson County schools. From 1974 to 1978, he faithfully served his country in the US Army. He was hired by Wilsonart, Lustar after receiving an honorable discharge. He worked as a janitor as well. Alfonso was a vocal member of the choir at Fairmont Baptist Church, where he made a joyful noise unto the Lord. Additionally, he performed with The Gospel Wheels, The Sensationals of Brickton, and The Sons of Thunder. Alfonso was a dedicated LA Raiders Fan. He loved fishing, playing with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and sitting with his dog "Cash" those were some of his favorite pastimes. To know Coosie is to love him.

His grandmothers Martha Copeland and Louise Timbers, as well as his father Roosevelt Timbers, preceded him in death. His mother, Arizona Timbers, is left to cherish his memories. Teresa Timbers, Minister Angela Timbers Arrington (Elder Andre Arrington) and Sharika Jones are his three beloved daughters. Rose Watley, Martha Timbers, and Theodore Timbers are siblings (Alfreda). Uncle Ezell Copeland and Aunt Mary Jane Sams (Hall). Keith Ellis, Sevon Porter, Kimiai Timbers, Khaleem Williams, Zhatea Arrington, Tijaris William, Dariana Rice, Lamarius Jones, Andrea Arrington, Taaron Griffin and Diondrea Arrington are among the 11 grandkids. There are also 26 great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. We will always love and cherish him with a special place in our hearts.

A funeral to honor his life will be held Saturday November 12, 2022 at First Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church (146 Pine St.), at 2pm. He will lie in state from 1pm until the beginning of the service. The funeral will be live streamed on Avery's Memorial Chapel's Facebook page.
