Very quietly and peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, God in His infinite wisdom gently closed the eyes of our beloved Willie Harrison and summoned him to a peaceful rest.
Born on April 7, 1932 to the late Effort and Joyce Ann Adams Harrison, he was the oldest of six siblings. Willie was educated in the Asheville Public School System. After completing high school, he became an employee in the Asheville Public School System for a number of years.
After a few years with the Asheville City School System, he and his wife Marie relocated to Hartford, Connecticut where they lived until Willie returned home to Asheville.
Upon returning home Willie was employed with Ryan’s Janitorial Services where he remained until his retirement. During his retirement years he loved watching T.V. and spending time with his family.
Willie was a life long member of St. James AME Church until his health began to decline.
Willie is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Harrison, two brothers; Ernest Harrison and Charles Harrison and one sister, Minnie Pearl Moore.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory one son, Ronald (Chinita) Bryson, five special children; Jackie, Viola, Laura, Benny, Pete, and Author Bryson; one brother, Boyd (Betty) Harrison; one sister, Elizabeth (Eugene, Jr.) Galloway; three grandchildren; Ronald K. Bryson, Kobey Bryson, Shawn Briscoe, three great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and other friends and relatives.
Services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 11:00 am at ST. James AME Church, 44 Hildebrand Street. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be held Sunday from 1:30 pm - 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
