Thomas Christopher Carpenter, 51 of Black Mountain went home to be with the LORD on Wednesday May 1, 2019. He was born April 7, 1968 the son of the late James Carpenter and Sylvia Ann Stepp.
Thomas graduated from Charles D. Owen High School and was a part of the JROTC program where he received several certificates. He was employed with the City of Asheville and also drove for Asheville Transit. He worked for several trucking companies during his truck driving career.
Thomas liked to play pool, play video games, and loved to listen to his music. He was a die-hard Carolina Tarheels and Dallas Cowboys fan. His favorite drink was Mountain Dew.
He was preceded in death by: his father, James Carpenter, brother Wayne Carpenter, aunts; Catherine Burgin & Joanna Burris, and maternal grandmother Marjorie Stepp.
Surviving are his mother, Sylvia Carpenter; daughter TaShayla Carpenter (Tracy); sisters Catherine Butler & Martha Carpenter, all of Black Mountain, brothers Patrick Carpenter of Greensboro; Jasmon Carpenter (Amber) of Morrisville; brother- in- law Sidney Butler of Black Mountain; aunts; Christine Stepp, Mary Burris, Addie Hall (Ron) all of Asheville; uncles; Robert Stepp of Asheville and H.J Burgin of Black Mountain; a special cousin Beverly Hausley; and a host of other cousins and special friends.
A memorial service honoring his life will be held Monday May 6, at Mills Chapel Baptist Church, located on 328 Cragmont Rd in Black Mountain.
