Marguerite Thomas Shivers

Mrs. Marguerite T. Shivers received her wings on Saturday, June 8, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents McHenry and Essie Reed, a son Kenneth Shivers, two grandchildren; Chelsea G. Gatlin and Kengy Shivers and her sister, Comerdis Phillips.

She was a faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she sang on the choir. Mrs. Shivers spent countless hours as a Nursing Assistant at Memorial Mission Hospital. After retirement, she became a Foster Grandparent until her health started failing.  She moved to Emerald Ridge Assistant Living and Lived there for 11 years until her passing.

She leaves to cherish her memories three daughters; Shirley Shivers McDaniel, Iris Shivers Greeley (Donnie), and Martha Shivers all of Asheville, two sons; Clarence Shivers of Washington, D.C., Michael Shivers (Cassandra) of Washington, D.C., her first grandchild Shawn Shivers of Atlanta, Ga., whom she raised and affectionately called her own! Other grandchildren are Chaka Shivers, Tyriek Shivers and Kermit Shivers, Marc McDaniel, Tristan McDaniel, Donnie Greely, Michael Shivers, Tiffany Shivers a host of great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Shivers will be held on Friday, June 14th at 12:00 pm at New Bethel Baptist Church located at 508 South French Broad Ave.  Visitation will be held starting at 11:30 am. Burial will immediately follow at Sunset Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13th from 5pm until 8pm at 90 Lees Creek Road in Leicester, NC.
