Keithan (Little Kilo) Whitmire Obituary

Beautiful hearted Keithan (Little Kilo) Deshaun Whitmire, departed this life on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, to be with the Lord. He was born on October 4, 2002 to the late Erica Smith and Keithan Whitmire.

Keithan’s love for life was best expressed through his artistic abilities. He had the ability to draw in details and depths that drew the attention of those who viewed his work. He successfully competed on Asheville Middle School and Asheville High School’s wrestling teams.  Although he was small in stature, he was strong in heart.  Keithan was adventurous and full of life.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Keithan was a funny, bright spirit who deeply loved his family. He didn't care if you were a first cousin or three generations removed, he loved his family. He always put others before himself; he wanted to make sure everyone was okay. Every year, since he was five, he loved to play Santa Claus for his siblings. He saved his money and spent every dollar on them. He was a great big brother.

If there were a pair of glasses to be lost, Keithan would lose them. He was loud, always hungry, and told corny jokes. He was the one person you could never stay mad at for long. Keithan was an absolute joy to all who knew him.

He began working at an early age at Wholesale Glass and Mirror and Diamond Dog.  While at work, he flourished in every assignment that he was given.  He always arrived at work with the commitment to meet and exceed all the expectations of his employers.  Keithan left a lasting positive impression on his co-workers.

Keithan has volunteered with The Arc of Buncombe County and Asheville GreenWorks. As part of his spiritual walk he attended church at Living Waters Ministries, Pine Grove Baptist Church, River of Life International, and The Lord’s Church of Asheville.

Keithan was preceded in death by his beloved mother Erica Smith and sister Harmony Smith.

He left to cherish his memories his father Keithan Whitmire, grandmothers Luella Whitmire and Kassandra Smith, grandfathers Michael Smith and Michael Johnson, Sr.; brothers Deshaun Whitmire, Zyrique Smith, Jayden Smith, Tyron Smith, Kaleb Smith and Ny’ke Whitmire; aunts Terry Bellamy (Lamont), Conita Whitmire, Bebe Seward (Lamont), Tashea Smith, Shareka Smith, Terica Smith, Jonica Smith and Shunta Johnson and uncles Michael Mosley and Michael Johnson, Jr; In addition to a host of other relatives including aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
