Jeffery "Silk" Ginyard , 63, died on June 2, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Asheville, NC , the son of James Copeland and Lillie Mae Ginyard.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lela Mae Ginyard, grandmother, Lela "Babe" Pea Evans, brother, Anthony Ginyard, sister, Darlene Ginyard and aunt, Joanne Gaines.
Jeffery attended Asheville City Schools. He worked at Fatz Café for 10 years where he was a faithful and dedicated employee. "Silk" was a member of St. John Baptist Church in Arden, NC.
He loved to dress! When he stepped out for anything, you knew he was on the scene. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports as well as dancing. His signature move was a two-step with a spin around. "Silk" loved his family and friends, especially his children, Ebony and Jeff, his girlfriend, Cheryl and his dog, Nestle.
Left to cherish his memory is his father, James Copeland, daughter, Ebony Presha (Mike) of Concord, NC, son, Jeff Hyatt of Asheville, girlfriend (bestfriend), Cheryl Pulley of Asheville, sisters; Willie Mae Hamilton (Stan) of Detroit, Michigan, Leslie Drummond (Shannon) of Charlotte, NC , Patricia Adams ( Richard) of Asheville and brother, Dennis Morgan of Asheville, Honorary siblings; Earlene Morgan, Derrick Morgan, and Errol Morgan, Honorary children; Tanya Presha of Asheville, Crystal Shaw (Mark) of Asheville, Charriat Robinson of Durham, NC and Marco Thompson of Asheville, grandson, Kevon Ailes, great-grandson, Colle Ailes, Honorary grandchildren; Kendral Presha, Keyona Presha, Keenan Presha, Jhari Patterson, Mark Tobe, Jr., MarCaylee Thompson and Marico Thompson, Jr., Honorary mother, Shirley Shaw, maternal aunt, Dianne Logan and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Silk will be missed by all who knew and love him.
Funeral Service for Jeffery will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Hill Street Baptist Church, 135 Hill Street, Asheville, NC 28801. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor David G. Perry will be the officiate.
