Harmony ("Ladybug") Unique Smith

Harmony Unique Smith, known affectionately by loved ones as “Lady Harmbug” was born and raised in Asheville, NC to the late Erica Smith and Josh Boyd. She had a huge heart and treasured her family and friends immensely. She was the second born of her mother’s six children — and the only girl. Her fun-loving and charismatic nature made her endearing to anyone who came in contact with her.

Harmony attended Asheville Middle School where she was an eighth grader and spent most of her time involved in various extracurricular activities. She excelled in school where mathematics was one of her favorite subjects. For those who knew Harmony, it was clear that one of her true passions was track and field. She loved running track and aspired to become a professional athlete in the near future. She even placed first in all three of her events on the same day she departed this life.

She was also a dedicated member of the youth development non-profit program, ‘My Sistah Taught Me That’ (MSTMT) that empowers young girls through educational and enrichment opportunities under the guidance of Leslie C. Lake and the CoreCrew. She enjoyed participating in an array of activities and outings with her fellow “Sistahs” from the program.

Harmony was a fashionista and shoe fanatic and was always planning how she would coordinate her next ensemble. She loved primping and hanging out with her friends at the mall, making funny videos on snapchat, being goofy, and sharing a good ol’ laugh with those around her. We will never forget the sound of her laughter or the curve of her smile.

Her beautiful smile will forever be embedded in our minds and hearts. Left to cherish her memory is her father Josh Boyd, grandmothers Kassandra Smith and Reba Boyd; grandfather Michael Johnson, Sr.; brothers Zyrique Smith, Jayden Smith, Tyron Smith, Kaleb Smith, Ashton Boyd, Hunter Maddox and sister Dajonna Boyd; aunts Tashea Smith, Shareka Smith, Terica Smith, Jonica Smith,Shunta Johnson, and Lashawn Newsome and uncles Michael Johnson, Jr., Michael Mosely and Khalid Saadik; In addition to a host of other relatives including aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
