Florence Evelyn Green, 84 died on October 28, 2018, at Memorial Mission Hospital. She was born on October 15, 1934 in Asheville, the daughter of Jack and Lizzie Lyles.
Florence is a graduate of Stephens Lee High School class of 1952 and a 1956 graduate of Benedict College in Columbia, SC. She was married to William Green who preceded her in death. She was an educator in the Asheville City School System and taught at Hill Street School, Ira B. Jones Elementary, Newton Elementary and Claxton Elementary before retiring. Florence was a member of The Daughters of Isis Gizeh Court No. 131, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, NCWBA Bowling League, she taught line dancing and loved to read.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by brothers; Roy Lyles, Ray Lyles, Edward Lyles, sisters, Daisy Lyles Hickman and Jacqueline L. Scott.
Florence will be forever remembered by her sons, Todd Green of Atlanta, Ga., Heath Green of Asheville, her daughter, Michelle Green of Asheville, sister, Ruth Wall Lyles of Atlanta, Ga., grandchildren, Alison Green of Asheville, Laild Green of Charlotte, NC and many other relatives and friends.
Services for Mrs. Florence Evelyn Green will be held Thursday, November 1st at 2pm, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Inc. on 47 Eagle Street, in Asheville. The Reverend Charles Martin will be the officiant. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service.
