Brian Chaplin of Durham, NC was born on May 18,1964 in Fletcher, NC . He went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2018. Brian passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children. He was the son of the late Joe L. Chaplin and Julia Copney of Arden, NC.
He graduated from TC Roberson High School in 1982 and then went on to A-B Tech and received degrees in Machine Operating, Blueprint Reading, Math, and Forklift. He worked for Burlington Industries, Peco and Rockwell-Arvin Meritor from 1988-2010.
Brian was the type of man who loved his family and would give his last dime if anybody needed it. He was a people person, loved having fun and living his life to the fullest. He loved taking his kids fishing, walking his dog, Molly and he loved his cars.
He was diagnosed with lung cancer on November of 2015. He was determined to fight and beat the cancer prognosis. Brian went through a lot and he fought with all he had. God blessed him with 2 ½ years after his diagnosis.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Trinity C. Chaplin and his sister, Vanessa Copney.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Laura S. Chaplin of Durham, NC, children; Briance and Starr Chaplin, Destiny, Secree’t and Mercedes Rhymes, and his dog, Molly all of home, K’terria Chaplin and Brian K. Keeter of Black Mountain, sisters; Vanita Copney of Arden, NC, Maxine Stout of Weaverville, NC and brother Tony Byrd of Durham, NC and Grandkids; Adrian Honeycutt and Maliya Suber, nephews, nieces and other family.
Funeral service for Brian Chaplin will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 12 pm at Hill Street Baptist Church and Pastor David Suber will be the officiant.
